New agents can be great to query, as they have a lot of energy and are actively building their lists! Paige Terlip is an Associate Agent at ABLA. She's been an agent for just over a year and she's already making a splash with great clients and sales. Paige and I talk about her philosophy of agenting, her feelings about rejection, and what she is looking for in a client. Plus, she helps me answer some listener questions about everything from query tips to the state of publishing.

Enjoyed this interview of Paige Terlip and the insights provided by your discussion, including why many literary agents discourage unsolicited PBs. Among other reasons, which were well articulated: they are inundated with them; most manuscripts aren't good; and even those that are well crafted can be hard to sell to publishers. At first, I found these insights dismaying since I write PBs. However, I know that craftsmanship of any kind is not achieved easily and I find the process of learning the craft exciting and fulfilling. So, not dismayed - but inspired. Thanks for the peek behind the curtain.
